Cliché/Water Challenges

First Challenge: Cliché phrase

A good writer knows how to recycle! So this week, use a cliché phrase. One of those phrases that makes you roll your eyes.

“It was a dark and stormy night.”

“And they lived happily ever after.”

“Once upon a time...”

“It was love at first sight.”

Or ANYTHING along those lines. You know a cliché phrase when you see it.

The catch? The fic has to be in first person.

You have 90 minutes.

Second Challenge: Water

This challenge is based on the astrological symbol WATER. You can write this in a number of ways. Water usually has a very flowing, cool and pure feeling. If you want to write a character who embodies this, or incorporate a cool and mercurial theme itself, that’s fine. Giving an example here, your story can also center around drowning, since it relates to water. You can take this challenge literally and metaphorically: for example, drowning in the Pacific or drowning in lust. Either is acceptable.

You have 75 minutes.
